Job Description
The Opportunity The New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy (NOMMA) is a high-performing Type-2 public charter school serving 8th - 12th grade students (“cadets”) from across the New Orleans metropolitan area. NOMMA offers a Marine Corps/military-style structure and is dedicated to the education of all cadets no matter their background or previous school experience. Cadets at NOMMA study in a focused, college preparatory environment guided by a team of teachers and retired military instructors who bring unparalleled experience to the classroom. All NOMMA students are dually enrolled as cadets in the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training (JROTC) program, which focuses on strong character development, leadership, personal responsibility, and service. The mentorship provided by the JROTC instructor, instruction from our highly-skilled academic faculty, and the autonomy we have as a charter school allow us to meet our cadets where they are and enable each of them to achieve their personal and academic potential. NOMMA also offers Career and Technical Education (CTE) training to develop cadets towards exciting and rewarding careers as maritime professionals, cyber/IT professionals, and first responders, as well as an array of extracurricular clubs and sport programs. Our unique, challenging, and tailored program provides our cadets with the knowledge and the skills needed to succeed as future leaders.
