Job Description
Jefferson Parish is looking to fill an EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.
Kind of Work:
The purpose of this position is to perform professional level administrative work managing various Community Development funded housing and capital improvement projects from funded stage through final acceptance/closeout stage. Depending on the area of assignment, employees in this classification may apply technical review and analysis to project specifications and development initiatives. Work areas include, but are not limited to, review and analysis of community development projects; reviews proposals for financial and other project feasibility such as environmental, timeliness of completion, and other elements that may impede project completion; working with consultant during contract negotiations; and preparation of accompanying resolutions and agreements. Employees in this classification are responsible for evaluating feasibility and preparing and administering project contracts in a manner to ensure proper use of all associated funding. Position ensures compliance with and adherence to all applicable laws, standards, guidelines, and regulations. Performs related work as directed. Performs related work as required. Position requires driving of a Parish vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record will be given preference.
Minimum Qualifications:
Meets one of the following options:
I. Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent certificate; PLUS, extensive (approximately 5 years) experience in residential construction as a general contractor, construction superintendent, technical inspector, or reviewer of residential construction plans with significant experience in the negotiation and/or enforcement of contracts.
OR
II. Possession of an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management or a related field, PLUS considerable (approximately 3 years) experience in residential construction as a general contractor, construction superintendent, technical inspector, or reviewer of residential construction plans with significant experience in the negotiation and/or enforcement of contracts.
OR
III. Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management of a related field, PLUS significant (approximately 1 year) experience in residential construction as a general contractor, construction superintendent, technical inspector, or reviewer of residential construction plans with significant experience in the negotiation and/or enforcement of contracts.
Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.
